You can set the frequency as Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly.

📈 Dashboard Period Filter

The Dashboard automatically updates the income, expenses, net amount, chart, recent transactions, and spending overview for the selected period.

💾 How Your Data Is Saved

Your data is saved automatically in your browser.

HomeBudget uses your browser's LocalStorage to save:

  • Transactions
  • Accounts
  • Categories
  • Tags
  • Budgets
  • Goals
  • Upcoming transactions
  • Recurring transactions
  • Application settings

Your data normally remains available after refreshing or closing the browser, as long as you use the same browser and device.

Because the current version uses browser LocalStorage, your data may be lost if you:

  • Clear browser data or site data.
  • Use browser cleanup software.
  • Change or reset your browser profile.
  • Use a different browser.
  • Use a different computer or device.

Your data is currently stored locally and is not automatically synced to a cloud server.

âŦ‡ī¸ Backup Your Data

Go to Settings → Data Backup and click Export Backup.

A file named homebudget-backup.json will be downloaded. Keep this file in a safe location such as:

  • Your computer
  • USB drive
  • Google Drive
  • Other cloud storage

It is recommended to create backups regularly.

âŦ†ī¸ Restore / Import a Backup

If you previously exported your HomeBudget data, you can restore it using the downloaded JSON backup file.

  • Go to Settings → Data Backup.
  • Click Import Backup.
  • Select your homebudget-backup.json file.
  • HomeBudget will check that the file is a valid HomeBudget backup.
  • Confirm the import when prompted.
  • Your accounts, transactions, budgets, goals, categories, tags, upcoming items, recurring transactions, and settings will be restored.
âš ī¸ Important:

Importing a backup replaces the current HomeBudget data in this browser. If you currently have important data, export a new backup before importing another backup.
